Monomorium minimum
Little Black Ant, Argentina Ant

Picture wanted

Size: 1.5 to 2 mm
Control:
Killing ants using surface sprays or powders is counter-productive. One only kills the worker ants which puts the nest under stress and then divides and after a few months you have twice as many ants as before. If you really have to kill them the Antrap is your best bet.
Ants are essential in nature and without them we would all be dead. The best way is to control them. Place naphthalene balls in small containers (e.g. eggcups) in places where you do not want the ants to go.
Also put naphthalene balls in outside electronic equipment such as gate controllers and movement sensing beams.
Set up an outside “feeding station” for ants and keep it supplied. Make sure there is enough water for them too.
They soon learn where to find their food and will stay out of the house. Having enough food, the nest will be happy, will not increase, and will do its essential job of cleaning up the environment.
