SHETLAND SHEEP-DOG

Origin and use: From the Shetland Isles of Scotland where they were used to herd the flocks and guard the house.
Height: 33 to 41 cm
Weight: not specified
Temperament: intelligent, affectionate, gentle, not friendly with everybody, good watch-dog
Useful information: Thorough grooming twice a week will prevent the dense undercoat from coming out in handfuls when shedding. This is one of the few working dogs that easily adapts to living in a town-house but it still needs a fair amount of exercise.
