SALUKI

Origin and use: From the Islamic sheiks of North Africa, the Middle East and Asia Minor comes the “noble one”. Used with falcons to hunt gazelle, fox and hare in the desert.
Height: dog 58 to 71 cm, bitch at least 56 cm
Weight: 14 to 25 kg
Temperament: dignified, intelligent, gentle, trustworthy with children, good watch-dog.
Useful information: Accustomed to the heat and open spaces of the desert the Saluki nevertheless adjusts well to life as a house-dog but it must have the opportunity to run freely. The feathering on the ears, tail, legs and thighs is untangled with a fine-tooth comb, a soft brush is needed for the rest of the body.
