Origin and use: From Newfoundland where they were used to carry things from boats to shore.
Height: dog 55 to 57 cm, bitch 54 to 56 cm
Weight: dog 27 to 34 kg, bitch 25 to 32kg
Temperament: trustworthy, obedient, good tempered, good with children, easy to train
Useful information: The Labrador must get enough exercise else, with its voracious appetite, it will soon gain weight. The coat must be brushed once in a while to prevent matting and to get rid of dust and dead hair.
