KERRY BLUE TERRIER

Origin and use: County Kerry in Ireland never claimed this dog which bears it name, but it does come from the south and west of Ireland. Originally used as a hunter and herder.
Height: dog 46 to 48 cm, bitch slightly less
Weight:dog 15 to 17 kg, bitch slightly less.
Temperament: pugnacious, affectionate, very intelligent, vivacious, good humoured
Useful information: Does not shed the "high maintenance" coat which needs weekly grooming and at least a six weekly visit to a grooming parlour knowledgeable about Kerries. The eyes must be cleaned daily.
