GREYHOUND
Origin and use: This is the most ancient of the hounds which the Celts brought to England. Used as a ‘gaze-hound’ for hunting on horseback today it is used at greyhound racetracks all over the world.
Height: dog 71 to 76 cm, bitch 68 to 71 cm Weight: dog 29 to 32 kg, bitch 27 to 29 kg Temperament: gentle, affectionate, aloof with strangers Useful information: Watch its weight and diet carefully. They should neither be too fat or too thin. Two or three light meals per day are preferable to one heavy one. Give the dog solid food, including semi-fat meat. Avoid sloppy or fatty mash and starchy food. Take the Greyhound for a run daily. Riding a bicycle with the dog on a leash is a good idea. These dogs are fast and can reach speeds of up to 70 km/h.
