DOBERMANN

Origin and use: Bred in Germany between 1865 and 1890 by Louis Dobermann as guard dogs.
Height: dog 65 to 70 cm, bitch 64 to 66 cm
Weight: both sexes 20 to 26 kg
Temperament: faithful, undaunted, courageous, vicious with strangers, intelligent, alert watch-dog, responsive to training.
Useful information: The Dobermann is prone to intestinal diseases and skin problems. Dry it thoroughly when it comes back indoors, having been out in bad weather. Watch out for a skin parasite called demodectic mange which shows up as grey bald patches around the eyes in young dogs. This must be treated by a vet.
