DALMATIAN

Origin and use: Not from Dalmatia, Yugoslavia, where it worked during the Balkan wars as a messenger but developed in England it was used as a guard dog, sled dog, herd dog, draught dog and hunter. It also became known as the ‘Coach Dog’.
Height: dog 57 to 60 cm, bitch 55 to 57 cm
Weight: both sexes 22 to 25 kg
Temperament: happy, attentive, good watch-dog, good with children
Useful information: It is prone to congenital deafness and bladder stones. It needs brushing every day with a medium-hard brush and needs lots of exercise.
