CAIRN TERRIER
Origin and use: On the Isle of Skye, Scotland, this mischievous, shaggy dog was used to control vermin in the cairns, the piles of stone marking ancient Roman graves. Height: both sexes not over 25 cm Weight: both sexes not more than 6.25 kg Temperament: active, courageous, good-natured. Useful information: The “abused toilet brush” appearance of this dog is misleading. It needs regular and careful grooming. Brush it twice a week and be careful not to remove too much of the soft undercoat. Bath once a month and brush the coat while it is drying. It adapts well to cramped quarters but its nails need to be cut regularly to prevent them from becoming ingrown. Group clubs: SA Short-Legged Terrier Club.
