Origin and use: Comes from Tervuren near Brussels and has the same descent as the Groenendael.
Height: dog 60 to 66 cm, bitch 56 to 62 cm
Weight: dog and bitch about 30 kg
Temperament: robust, lively, intelligent, responsive to training, good watch-dog
Useful information: Belgian Shepherds need lots of exercise or they will gain weight but after enough time outdoors the Tervuren will calmly accept life in a townhouse or flat. This is a long haired dog and requires daily brushing and combing. During the shedding season the undercoat should be given special attention as dead hair can matt it. Clip long hair from the outer ears and between the toes and pluck excess hair from the inner ears.
