OLD ENGLISH SHEEPDOG

Origin and use: Probably one of the oldest Sheepdogs in England, it was first used to guard herds but later became a cattle and sheep herding dog.
Height: dog 56 cm +, bitches 51 cm +
Weight: not specified
Temperament: calm, courageous, intelligent, not pugnacious, good watch-dog, fond of children, easy to train
Useful information: The Bobtail is an athletic dog and needs to run. It becomes uncomfortable in hot weather. Regular swabbing of the ears and removal of tangled hair is essential. Brushing twice a week should keep the coat from matting. Bathing is seldom necessary as dust does not cling to the coat.
