ALASKAN MALAMUTE

Origin and use: A North American dog used for hunting polar bears, guarding caribou herds and as a sledge dog.
Height: dog 58 to 71 cm
Weight: dog 38 to 56 kg, bitch not specified
Temperament: kind, affectionate, obedient, intelligent, responds well to training, good with children
Useful information: Rarely ill, the Malamute needs lots of exercise and prefers to live outside. Training must be strict and consistent. The dog must be brushed and combed several times a week. When shedding this should be done daily. Malamutes prefer cold weather but can live in temperate climates.
