CELLPHONES

Your cellphone can actually be a life saver or an emergency tool for survival. This is what you can do with it.

Emergency

The emergency number worldwide from any cellphone is 112. If you find yourself out of coverage area of your mobile network and there is an emergency dial 112 and the cell will search any existing network to establish the emergency number for you. Interestingly 112 can be dialled even if the keypad is locked.

Hidden battery power

If your cell battery is very low and you are expecting an important call and you do not have your charger, Nokia instruments come with a reserve battery. To activate this press the keys *3370#. Your cell will restart with this reserve and the instrument will show a 50% increase in battery power. The reserve battery will automatically be recharged when next you charge your cell.

Stolen cell phones

To get your cell phone’s serial number key in *#06#.

A 15 digit code will appear on the screen. This is a number unique to your cell. Write it down and keep it somewhere safe. Should your cell be stolen, phone your service provider and give them this code. They will be able to block your cell and even if the thief changes the SIM card, the cell will be totally useless.

You probably won’t get your cell back, but at least you know that, whoever stole it can’t use or sell it either. If everybody did this there would be no point in stealing a cell phone.
